Fried fish in oatmeal with tartare sauce

Ingredients

  • 600g/1lb 5oz mixed fish fillets (such as herring, smoked haddock, plaice, etc), any pin bones removed, cut into strips
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ lemon, juice only
  • 2 free-range eggs, beaten
  • 200g/7oz pinhead oatmeal
  • sunflower oil, for frying
