Iceberg is a large pale lettuce, with crisp densely packed leaves in a firm bowl shape. It has little flavour or nutrients, but it does have a good, juicy texture that is best appreciated when the lettuce is served cut into wedges, so that your teeth bite through the layers. Otherwise, shred icebergs to use in sandwiches, salads and wraps.
Iceberg has a good shelf-life and can be kept for up to seven days in the salad drawer of the refrigerator.
